3 things from the Semester!
Rodriguez "Aria"
I feel like I will take this reading with me as I continue through my teaching career. This reading opened my eyes to what it is like for some students to have to learn English to become successful in their schooling. I saw this especially in my service learning classroom during the semester. For many kids in the class, Spanish is their first language so this is quite a challenge for them.
Kohn "What to Look For in the Classroom"
This was important to me because wanting to be an educator it makes me think of what my own classroom will look like some day. I want to be the teacher that is always engaging with her students. I also want to have everyone busy doing work that will help them excel but also isn't busy work. I hope to make my space inviting and safe for all my students and these tips were very helpful.
Tricks card Game
I liked this game a lot because we did it in the beginning of the year. This helped us interact with new people and maybe get a good laugh in. It also showed how people felt when they were confused and how everyone reacted to this. In my service learning class there were a few kids who sometimes had no idea what was going on. This could be due to a language barrier or even that they needed a different way of learning. It was a good way to make everyone aware of people or students that are afraid to say they are confused and how they feel in a stressful situation.
